New 20" Rays® forged wheels

For 2020, GT-R NISMO features a new-design 20" RAYS® forged aluminum wheel. [*]A reduction in weight allows the suspension react more quickly to driver input or road conditions, while the open design enhances cooling of brake components. A perfect partner, an all-new tire was designed using supercomputer analysis. The result is a wider contact patch, greater cornering grip, and reduced rolling resistance. A win-win-win situation.

Competition-Tuned Suspension

The Nissan GT-R NISMO's suspension setup is tuned for stunning agility, road-holding and handling finesse, without compromising refinement. The springs and custom-developed Bilstein® DampTronic® dampers in the front and rear suspension are specially tuned to deliver exceptional grip levels and progressive handling response at the limit.

Body Bonding For Enhanced Rigidity

To enhance the GT-R's already rigid platform, additional adhesive bonding was added to key spot welds for increased body shell rigidity.

Carbon-Fiber rear spoiler

Beauty for the beast. Designed to increase downforce, the Nissan GT-R NISMO's hand-made dry carbon-fiber rear spoiler features a special coating that allows carbon-fiber "weave" to be felt by the touch.

Carbon-Fiber side sills

The carbon-fiber side sills continue the work started at the front of the car – helping to generate additional downforce compared to standard Nissan GT-R models.

Carbon-Fiber Rear Fascia

An elongated yet tapered rear bumper design helps to keep drag to 0.26 Cd. Additionally, the NISMO-tuned carbon-fiber rear fascia – while being aerodynamically designed to help ensure downforce is equally spread from front to rear at all speeds – also helps to lower the center of gravity.

Carbon-Fiber trunk lid

Detail bordering on obsession. The Nissan GT-R NISMO's carbon-fiber trunk lid adds stiffness, while weighing nearly half as much as a standard trunk lid.

GT-R Nismo GT3

What a year! The NISMO GT3 racer claimed both the race win and the championship title in the Pirelli Super Taikyu Series in Japan at Twin Ring Motegi. The Endless GT-R (Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3), took the victory in the five-hour race – the team's first Super Taikyu victory of the season, while the No. 99 Y's Distraction GTNET GT-R clinched the title with a third-place finish.

Carbon-Fiber Rear Spoiler

On the outside, the dry carbon-fiber rear spoiler provides downforce, and is a work of art in its own right.

Closed Deck and Ladder Frame Engine Block Design

The cylinder block features a closed deck for strength. For added strength, a ladder frame structure was also adopted to give the crankshaft added support, important with the engine's massive torque. Magnesium alloy was selected for the oil pan and rocker cover for its light weight and strength.

Handformed Titanium Exhaust

A titanium exhaust helps ensure proper cooling from the engine's massive output. Notoriously difficult to work with, each exhaust is hand-built by a master craftsman, and is specifically designed for an individual vehicle. A new "burnished" finish to the exhaust tip gives the perfect look – of a high-performance vehicle that's been enjoyed to the fullest.

Aerodynamic downforce

Downforce adds grip and enhances the feeling of control. Reinforcements to the hood, along with the design of the front spoiler and the side sill extensions, prevent air from being drawn under the vehicle, and help the GT-R consistently apply its downforce.

GT-R breaks all the rules

The average car has exposed working gear underneath where wind whips around, creating lift, and slowing you down. The Nissan GT-R, of course, isn't an average car. Its underbody is virtually covered by composite panels, giving it a flat, aerodynamic surface. At the front of the car, the flat underbody is accelerating the air and channeling it over the brakes, cooling them down. At the back, a carbon-fiber diffuser takes that accelerated air and slows it down, creating a vacuum effect that helps the Nissan GT-R connect to the road, while a duct in the diffuser helps cool the titanium exhaust.

Dry sump lubrication system

To ensure stable lubrication for the transmission even when cornering at high Gs, a dry sump lubrication system is employed. The system sprays transmission oil directly onto the gears, reducing friction and increasing reliability.

Two Clutches, No Clutch Pedal

The Nissan GT-R's 6-speed dual-clutch transmission shifts incredibly quickly. How? Inside the transmission, there are separate clutches for the odd (1st, 3rd, 5th) and even (2nd, 4th, 6th) gears. When the car is in an odd-numbered gear, the adjacent even numbered gear is “pre-selected” – ready to make the shift immediately. The transmission is so smart, it even “blips” the throttle on downshifts to match rpm.

Monoblock Calipers with Floating Disc Rotors

The brakes feature 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers for stronger, more equal clamping power – something you'd expect to see on an all-out competition machine. For extreme rigidity with light weight, the caliper is machined from a single one-piece "monoblock" of aluminum. The Nissan GT-R also benefits from a full-floating rotor – a racing technology originated by Brembo®. By allowing the outer disc to expand away from the hub under extreme heat, it reduces the tendency of the rotor to warp.

Bilstein® Damptronic® Shock Absorbers

A special Bilstein® DampTronic® driver-adjustable shock absorber system utilizes multiple vehicle information systems to provide appropriate damping forces and a high level of control for a variety of driving situations.

Multi-Material Structural Components

The GT-R's body gets maximum strength from Carbon Aluminum Die-cast Steel, a combination of carbon fiber, die-cast aluminum and steel.

For structural rigidity, aluminum die-cast door inner panels are employed to decrease the amount of deformation during a crash. Die-cast aluminum is also used for the front strut housing and in the front suspension. For added structural rigidity, the suspension's strut tower bar is made of a lightweight carbon composite containing aluminum honeycomb.

Advanced All-Wheel Drive For 24/7 Performance

When most supercars stay in the garage or make a hasty retreat, the Nissan GT-R powers through, with ATTESA ET-S®, one of the most advanced All-Wheel Drive and Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) systems ever used in a road car.

Performance With A Bias

Instead of the traditional 50/50 torque split between front and rear axles, the electronically controlled All-Wheel Drive system provides up to nearly 100% of available torque to the rear wheels, and can send up to 50% of torque to the front wheels. This provides the steering feel and response of a rear-wheel drive vehicle, while giving the added confidence that only AWD can offer. Additionally, VDC continuously monitors your steering and braking actions, senses any oversteer or understeer, and compensates by reducing engine speed and/or applying brake pressure to specific wheels.

On-The-Fly Set-Up Switches

Nissan GT-R's easy-to-use 3-mode system is always ready. Three switches allow for on-the-fly adjustment of specific performance parameters for the transmission, suspension, and Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system.

GT-R R-Mode

R-Mode is for maximum performance. It sets the transmission for the quickest shifts and adjusts the suspension, shocks, and Vehicle Dynamic Control for high-performance handling.

GT-R Normal Mode

For daily driving, choose Normal Mode, which sets the transmission, suspension, and VDC for a smooth, refined ride.

GT-R Special Modes

Use Save Mode for long-distance driving and gentler torque delivery on slippery surfaces. In Comfort Mode, the damping force of the shock absorbers is variably adjusted for more comfort. Off Mode disengages the VDC system.

One man, one engine

Only five master craftsmen in the world are allowed to hand-assemble the GT-R's engine and affix a plaque carrying their name.

There may be times when you'd like to attract less attention to the GT-R's potent exhaust note. A control in the cabin closes a valve inside the titanium exhaust that significantly reduces outside exhaust volume – ideal in crowded or urban settings.

Nissan Advanced Air Bag System includes dual-stage supplemental front air bags with seat belt sensors and an occupant-classification sensor. The inflation rate of these dual-stage air bags adjusts depending on crash severity and seat belt usage.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System

When it comes to tire pressure, the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) takes away the guesswork. Using an icon on your dash, the system notifies you when tires aren't properly inflated.

Vehicle Dynamic Control

Advanced Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system not only helps you maintain your steered path, in R-Mode, it actually sends more power to the appropriate wheels when it senses oversteer or understeer, helping you drive with superior power and control.

Traction Control System

All the power in the world is useless if you can't get any grip. So when TCS senses drive-wheel spin, it responds by helping reduce throttle, which helps you both regain grip and maintain control.

Electronic Brake Force Distribution

Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) monitors weight distribution and adjusts rear brake force to compensate for added weight from passengers or cargo.
